Polling has been reopened to give a fair chance to other milongas not listed earlier and to spread the message about the poll to those milongas further south. Re Milonga Corazon, which is moving to The Tango Room, please vote for all aspects possible when it was at Sophie’s.

We have many choices, and different milongas attract us for various reasons. Whether it is the location, the music, the food, the floor, or where people we know gather, we tend to be drawn to certain ones.
What is it about a milonga that attracts us?
To find out, I thought it would be fun to conduct a poll to see what aspects of milongas in Los Angeles and nearby areas local tango dancers like best and for what reasons.
Please cast your votes for the best floor, music, food, decor, etcetera. Leave a comment below if you have something further to add.
Some milongas are at the same studios, but choose the one you attend when voting for aspects such as “best dance floor”.
Also, some venues have closed in the past year, and I might have missed one or two, so please let me know, and I’ll adjust the poll. Let me know if you think I should add other categories to the poll. You can send me a message here.
Remember, this is in no way an effort to cast a negative light on any milonga or host.
Organizing and hosting a milonga takes great work, which many people do not realize. You do not make much money from organizing a milonga, as I intimately know, having hosted several in the past. Most tango organizers do it for the love of the dance and the community.
However, milongas organizers might glean some useful information from what people find important when going out to dance the tango.
Please be constructive and considerate when you leave a comment.
Voting is now ongoing! Cast your vote:
