Saturday, March 16th, please join us for our monthly Practica. (BRING A DANCE PARTNER AND PAY ONLY $10 EACH). This practica is open to ALL LEVEL dancers. Our goal is to provide friendly, easy-going environment for everyone who is interested in practicing, improving and challenging their dance.
We highly encourage you to push beyond limits and discover new heights of your dance!
Practice makes perfect!
Please note that even though this is not a milonga (social dance), we will ask you to respect as well as practice the following codigos (rules):
1.Please use cabeceo to ask fellow dancers to join you on the dance floor
2.Please strictly follow appropriate navigation rules:
-Follow the correct direction of the dance flow and dance in the line-of-dance
-Leaders entering the floor when people are dancing should make eye contact with the leader that they want to enter in front of. Do not enter until you make eye contact with a leader already dancing and he signals it is okay to enter the floor in front of him
-Share the dance floor responsibly. Leaders stay aware of the couples around you.
-Dance forward at the speed of the couple in front of you.
-Do not tailgate the couple in front of you, if possible, keep a two step gap between you and the couple in front of you. Move into any gap in front of you, so that those behind you have room to move forward.
-Adjust the amount of space you use to how crowded the floor is. When the floor is very crowded, keep your steps small, keep your feet on the floor (e.g. no high boleos), and don’t leave large gaps between you and other couples. If the floor is less crowded, increase the distance between couples and you may choose to take steps that use more room.
-Avoid changing lanes. Do not weave in and out of lanes. Never cut across the floor.
-Never back up against the line of dance.
3.Personal Hygiene: Argentine Tango is a partner dance done mostly in a close embrace. So here are a few quick tips for a better experience for all:
-Please shower/bathe before going dancing
-Please use deodorant
-Please use any kind of breath mints
-Please avoid heavy doses of perfume or cologne
-If you are a smoker, please try not to smoke before going dancing or wash your hands right after and before entering the dance floor
-If you tend to sweat a lot, please bring a towel and some extra shirts to change to
We are looking forward seeing you ON THE DANCE FLOOR!
With love,
Your Hosts
